What a clerk actually does.

We will adjust these stories as the product changes. Recipients do not install. You write mail in the program you already use. Signet7 is not a mail app and does not replace bold, centering, or Send. Same product on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The rule

Passive receive. Opt-in seal. Never our composer.

Receive

Signet7 desktop sits on one mailbox. Unsigned or ordinary mail stays quiet. A warning appears only if a seal is broken, replayed, or revoked.

Send

Write in Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird. If you opt in and have a sender token, Signet7 cryptographically seals the exact message on the way out. Checking stays free. Sealing is a paid sender program.

All three systems

Windows, Mac, and Linux use the same Signet7 desktop. Incoming checks and optional seal are both in that window. There is no Windows-only tray and no Outlook-only send path as the product.

Small company

One owner. Named work emails.

Maya pays vendors. She uses Outlook on a PC and the same mailbox on her phone. She can just as well be on a Mac or Linux box. The steps do not change.

  1. She lands on this site. Recipients do not start on GitHub.
  2. First invoice: she opens the live check and brings the original message. No install.
  3. Always-on: she runs Signet7 on Windows, Mac, or Linux, picks Microsoft / Gmail / iCloud, saves. Same window.
  4. Receiving: mail still arrives in her mail app. Signet7 is quiet unless a seal is torn.
  5. Sending: she writes in Outlook or Apple Mail with bold and centering. If she opted in, she points that app SMTP at 127.0.0.1 port 2525. Signet7 cryptographically seals the exact message and forwards. She still hits Send in her mail app.

Corporation

AP or treasury only. Not the whole company.

A controller changes vendor bank details. Mail is Microsoft 365. People use Windows, Mac, and sometimes Linux. Legal will not let a startup sit in the mail pipe.

  1. They do not buy live Exchange. Signet7 does not own Microsoft transport.
  2. IT runs the same Signet7 desktop on the AP workstation, whichever OS it is.
  3. Receiving: the agent watches that one mailbox. Phones already use it. No.eml hunt.
  4. Sending: clerks keep writing in Outlook. Org-wide add-in push is still a Microsoft admin. Auto-seal is the same localhost hop in Signet7 desktop as the small company, if they opt in and have a sender token.
  5. Vendors check on the website. They install nothing.

What this is not

We will keep this page honest.
